Removal of pigmented lesions - mechanism of action
In the case of pigmented lesions, the target for the light action is melanin - natural pigment that determines the colour of skin, hair and the iris, excessively accumulated in certain body areas, while in the case of tattoos - ink inserted into the dermis
layer of skin. Lightenergy is absorbed by the pigment and converted into heat, raising the temperature of the pigment cells and thus causing their destruction.
